Woodlands Nature Station is the family-friendly doorway to the 8,500-acre Nature Watch area between Honker and Hematite lakes. The backyard wildlife exhibits introduce visitors to native animals that cannot be released, while naturalists and seasonal programs add context that a quick walk through the exhibits cannot provide.

The official schedule currently lists daily operation from April through October and Wednesday through Sunday in March and November. Winter closures, special-event pricing and program times can change. Check the same-day calendar before driving the final wooded miles to the facility.
Pair the Nature Station with Hematite Lake Trail or another short Nature Watch outing rather than trying to cross the entire recreation area for an unrelated stop. Families should leave extra time for animal programs, which are often the part children remember.
