Big Bear Resort is a Kentucky Lake base near Benton, west of Land Between the Lakes. It is best suited to a trip built around the lake as well as LBL: the resort has several kinds of lodging, a marina, a beach and camping. It is not inside the recreation area, so check the drive to the LBL stops on your list before reserving.
Choose the unit, not just the resort
The choices here are unusually varied. Cottages and chalets suit smaller groups, while townhouses and condominiums give larger parties more space. The resort also offers campsites. Do not assume that every unit has the same view, kitchen setup, parking, pet policy or access to the water.
- For a family lake stay: compare the number of beds, bathrooms and the walk to the beach or marina in the exact unit listing.
- For boaters: check slip availability and trailer parking when you reserve lodging; a room booking does not guarantee a slip.
- For pets or accessibility needs: ask about the specific unit. Policies and layouts vary across lodging types.
How it fits an LBL trip
Big Bear works well when Kentucky Lake time is the main event and LBL is part of the trip. If you plan to spend most days on southern LBL trails or at the Homeplace, compare a Tennessee-side base before committing to a lakefront unit here.
