If you’ve driven through Eddyville, Kentucky, on your way to Lake Barkley or Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area, chances are you’ve heard of Our Daily Bread. This small-town favorite has long been a go-to stop for locals and travelers alike, serving fresh-baked breads, scratch-made cinnamon rolls, and warm, friendly service.
Now, Our Daily Bread is gearing up for a grand reopening on February 25, 2025, under the leadership of new owner Brooke McDowell—a familiar face to anyone who’s visited the café over the past five years.
Located just minutes from the Lake Barkley Marina and popular LBL hiking trails, Our Daily Bread has been a part of Eddyville’s charm for more than a decade. Originally opened by Randy and Rose Fraliex, the café became known for its comfort food, signature cinnamon rolls, and as a gathering place for the community.
In December 2024, ownership passed to longtime employee Brooke McDowell, who—alongside her family—is giving the café new life. The dining room has been repainted in Lyon County Panthers purple and gold, the ceiling is being replaced, and the kitchen has been reworked for better efficiency.
“I just want the community to know that we’re getting there—it’ll be worth the wait,” McDowell told the Herald Ledger. “We want to keep the heart of the place while making it even more inviting.”
While the look may be refreshed, the heart of the menu is staying true to its roots. Here’s what you can expect:
McDowell plans to expand the menu slightly, with more grab-and-go options for travelers heading into Land Between the Lakes for a day of hiking or boating.
