Hillman Ferry Campground is the main developed campground near the northern entrance to Land Between the Lakes. Its mix of wooded and lakefront sites makes it a practical base for Grand Rivers, the north end of the North/South Trail, the Nature Watch area and central LBL.
Address: 820 Hillman Ferry Road, Grand Rivers, Kentucky
Season: generally March through November
Sites: basic, electric, water and sewer configurations
Also available: rustic cabins, beach, boat ramps, trails and family recreation areas
Choose the site, not just the campground
Hillman Ferry is large. Lake access, shade, utilities and distance to bathhouses vary across the campground, so use the official campground map before reserving. Rustic cabin guests need to bring linens, and cabin policies do not necessarily match policies for ordinary campsites.
This is the better developed-campground choice for a trip centered on northern LBL. Piney is more practical for the Homeplace, Fort Henry trails and the southern gateway. Current rates, water availability, check-in rules and Outpost schedules can change.
