Energy Lake Campground is the smaller developed-campground choice in central/eastern LBL. It sits beside an inland lake separated from Lake Barkley by an earthen dam, creating a quieter setting than the large Kentucky Lake campgrounds.
Season: generally March through November
Current inventory: 35 campsites and 13 primitive cabins
Best for: families, paddlers and central/eastern LBL
Reservations: use the official developed-campground system
The smaller scale and central position work well for Nature Watch, Golden Pond and Lake Barkley country. It is less practical when every plan is clustered around Grand Rivers or Dover.
Utility levels, accessibility, cabin supplies, pet rules and waterfront proximity differ. Use the official campground map and reservation listing together; do not rely on the former LBL Guide claim that the campground had 48 sites with 35 electrical hookups.
