Honker Lake Trail makes a 4.6-mile circuit around a shallow 180-acre impoundment in the Nature Watch area. The route moves through shoreline, upland and bottomland forest, giving patient walkers a better chance to notice wildlife than a hurried roadside stop.

The mileage is moderate, but natural surfaces, heat and stops for wildlife can stretch the outing. Carry water and use the official Nature Station trail map. Paddling on Honker Lake offers another way to see the area, but seasonal programs and launch conditions should be confirmed separately.
Honker Lake fits naturally with the Woodlands Nature Station. Choose Hematite instead when the group wants a shorter loop and boardwalk.
