If you’re a lover of wildlife and the great outdoors, an exceptional experience awaits you at the Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area.
LBL is an area of outstanding natural beauty spreading over thousands of acres of forested peaks, parkland, and shoreline between Lake Barkley and Kentucky Lake, just south of Paducah, KY. The land is dedicated to outdoor pursuits with a conservationist and educational theme, set in breathtaking scenery.
One of the attractions offering fun for the whole family and all ages is the wildlife. At LBL, you can connect with nature and the environment through some unique experiences.
LBL’s wildlife-themed activities are based around the Woodlands Nature Station, located north of The Golden Pond Visitor Center. The station is open daily from April 1 to October 31, 09:00-17:00 Monday to Saturday and 10:00-17:00 on Sundays. During March and November, it is open Wednesday through Sunday, with the same hours.
The LBL Woodlands Nature Station offers wildlife encounters indoors in the Discovery Center and outdoors in The Backyard exhibits. You can also see animals and plants in their natural habitats on numerous trails, including a wheelchair-friendly one.
Join a guided hiking trip or canoe excursion, or explore nature at your leisure. LBL’s organized tours start at Woodlands Nature Station, offering viewing and tracking, photography, and wetland discovery tours.
